About the Event
While living and performing full time in New York City in 2011, Thom was selected for a cameo vocal recording on Rubyana's 2012 Grammy Nominated Jazz Album. Thom also held several artist-in-residency gigs in long standing, musically historic venues in Greenwich Village & SoHo in NYC. Over the last 5 years, Thom has performed nearly 300 shows per year from the Virgin Islands to NYC, including Atlanta, Nashville, Charleston, and many major cities in between. Having performed for nearly 15 years collectively, music had merely been a part time endeavor in his early years, playing only two to four times per month with several of his original projects. On Sept. 11th. 2007, all of that changed. With the economy in a nose-dive, the historic 'Change' of administration in the White House; along with the passing of two dear friends, and the words still fresh in his ear, "tomorrow is promised no one" Thom started pursuing what had always been his true passion; as a full time job.

Growing up in the South, music was introduced early. Listening to his dad’s record collection on their old Wurlitzer Juke Box, Thom was inspired by the voices of some of the best original soul artists; Otis Redding, Al Green, Marvin Gaye, Ray Charles, and pretty much anyone signed to the MoTown label. You will hear many of those influences emerge through his soulful, raspy vocal style. Yet his songwriting style has often been compared to his more modern influences such as Ray Lamontagne, Damion Rice, Amos Lee, even Ben Harper. Along with a whole catalog of well crafted original material, Thom may also be found uniquely covering many of the very artists who have inspired him.
