“Liam St. John is carving a lane in the roots music world by keeping it raw. Man of the North is a bluesy, powerful album that announces the Washington state songwriter as an artist you need to know.” - The Rolling Stone
Izzy Mahoubi
Izzy Mahoubi is a 21-year-old artist from Phoenix. Mahoubi’s songs carry the sonic charm of the Southwest, where she grew up on Stevie Nicks and dreamed up lyrics on the edge of Camelback Mountain. Her sound draws from Tom Petty’s honesty, and the raw vocals of Janis Joplin. Her music speaks to the girls and the ’70s-rock dads alike, blending tongue-in-cheek songwriting and Laurel Canyon-esque pop with the grit and wide-open atmosphere of the desert. That desert grit comes through in a voice that commands every room to lean in, whether she’s performing with a full band or alone with her pawnshop guitar where it all began.
Mahoubi has supported artists including Sawyer Hill, Em Beihold, and Adam Melchor, while sharing bills with The Lumineers and Mt. Joy. Accidentally stumbling into some 90s grunge virality, Izzy posted a “Southwest Emo” version of a Rage Against The Machine song that has accumulated over 10 million views. She has independently released her version of, “Killing in the Name” coining her singular sound as “Southwest Emo” and “Desert Blues”. Her latest single, “Hound Of The Strays” is out now.
