Originally from Wisconsin, Andrew Rivard Hill relocated to Charlottesville in 2016 to study at the University of Virginia. He sings soulful tunes inspired by the likes of Woody Guthrie, Billie Holiday, Loretta Lynn, Arvo Pärt, Leonard Cohen, Doris Day, and Johnny Cash. The list goes on . . . Uniquely positioned as a late-blooming folk singer raised on Radio Head and Rancid, Andrew looks at music as a way to make an impact on a person, or group, much more quickly than an academic essay. Songs from films such as the Sound of Music and The Jungle Book play a central role in his musicianship. He is always inspired by the hills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and good cheese from Wisconsin, Sweden, or France.
