A Different Thread / Crowes Pasture
About the Event
“Soaring harmonies that fall like loose feathers over dusty, infectious twang” - Glide Magazine
Some things are just meant to be. Alicia Best from the US and Robert Jackson from the UK First met busking on the streets of Ireland, discovering a musical and personal harmony that was serendipitous. Since forming A Different Thread, the group has independently released three full-length albums and toured internationally, building a reputation for rich harmonies, award-winning songwriting, and engaging live storytelling. Their latest album, Over Again, marks a new chapter for the duo, shaped by their long-awaited move to North Carolina. The title track won ‘Best in Folk’ at the 2026 International Acoustic Music Awards and the album has earned praise from Rolling Stone Germany, Americana UK, No Depression, and RnR Magazine, with critics highlighting their “harmonies to-die-for”, “exquisite songwriting” and “all killer, no filler” approach. Recorded across three studios and two continents, including Betty’s in North Carolina (Tyler Childers, Watchhouse) and Alma Vale Studio in the UK (Yola, Elles Bailey), the eleven songs trace a remarkable journey from long-distance love, separation, grief, towards reunion, renewal, and belonging. Alongside their own story, Best and Jackson explore wider questions around mental health, social and environmental justice, and how to find courage in uncertain times. “We write songs to bring people together, to inspire kindness, and to work towards a brighter future for all”. - A Different Thread Their original songs draw inspiration from artists including John Prine, Joni Mitchell, The Cranberries, Tracy Chapman, Pentangle, and The Band. Drawing on their transatlantic roots, A Different Thread weaves Appalachian blues, British folk rock, and North Carolina alt-country into their own take on Americana, with rich harmonies, singalong choruses, bittersweet storytelling, and an underlying sense of hope.

"A Banjo-Guitar Romance" Roots - Infused Contemporary Folk
Crowes Pasture, the acoustic folk duo of Monique Byrne and Andy Rogovin, creates intimate, soulful music rooted in life, family, place, and our shared humanity. Their songs move between joy and wistfulness, tenderness and conviction, carried by closely blended vocal harmonies and an expressive instrumental style often described as “a banjo-guitar romance.” Through their “skillfully crafted, emotional songwriting” (Chris Eastburn, award-winning composer), Crowes Pasture connects listeners with stories and experiences that feel deeply personal and universally familiar. Crowes Pasture has released three EPs and four full-length albums. Their two most recent albums, Don’t Blink (2023) and Slow It Down (2019), were both released at the legendary Club Passim. The duo has earned thirteen Top 10 songs on Folk Alliance International’s Folk Chart, including “Slow It Down,” which debuted at #1; “Raise Your Hand,” which reached #3 in January 2026; “Take Back the Red White and Blue” (2022); their cover of Mary Gauthier’s “Mercy Now” (2019); and the timely, topical song “Quarantine” (2021). Crowes Pasture has performed at renowned East Coast music venues including Club Passim, the Shalin Liu Performance Center, Rockwood Music Hall, The Bull Run, and Circle of Friends Coffeehouse, and has appeared in support of The Small Glories and The Kennedys. The duo was twice nominated for Roots Act of the Year by the New England Music Awards (2019 and 2022) and was nominated for Americana Artist of the Year by the Boston Music Awards (2019). They were named finalists for Best Group/Duo in the 2020 International Acoustic Music Awards and again in 2021 for their song “A Virtue and a Call.” In 2024, they won the International Acoustic Music Awards’ Best Country/Bluegrass Song award for “Barranco.” Crowes Pasture has toured throughout the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, and is currently recording its fifth full-length album with Don Mitchell of the award-winning indie folk band Darlingside. The duo takes its name from Crowes Pasture, a secluded stretch of salt marsh and tidal flats on the north side of Cape Cod, where the receding tides reveal intricate patterns in the shifting sand. That recurring cycle of creation and discovery reflects the heart of their musical journey.
