Brandon Wayne’s roots run deep in the hills and hollows of Central Virginia. Country, bluegrass, and hillbilly songs are the soundtrack to life and the sounds that define us. They run in Brandon’s veins, and they’re his driving passion. While he’s evolved from bluegrass banjo—his first instrument—to acoustic and electric guitar, the band’s sound maintains the primitive rusticity of rural America. And when rural America plugs in things really start rocking.
Brandon’s superb originals and choice covers are inspired by an abiding passion for mid-20th-century classic vintage country, rockabilly, hillbilly boogie, and western swing.
Wayne’s salt-meets-velvet twang echoes George Jones crossed with Hank Williams. It is truly one of the finest hillbilly voices on the scene today. The band’s Virginia roots take us to the wellspring of mid-century rural American music. It’s an education, a revelation, and a swingin’ celebration. Many roots and rockabilly bands do a fine job paying homage to this music. Brandon Wayne and His Lonesome Drifters are the real deal.
