Katie Naplatarski with Donie Carroll ~ "Songs of Longing and Belonging"
Katie Whyte Naplatarski will sing "Songs of Longing and Belonging," a selection of old and new American, English and Irish ballads and folk songs. Through songs sung with simplicity and heart, Katie gives voice to the eternal longing for love, land, justice and home. A member of the Sunnyside Singers Club, Katie will be accompanied by club founder and renowned singer and guitarist Donie Carroll. Violinist Todd Rogers will also provide accompaniment. Katie is a community activist, singer and former teacher from the Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn.
Marina Meyler
A native of Dublin, Marina started playing Irish folk music with her father at a very young age, eventually joining his folk group and performing at many renowned ballad houses in Dublin in the 1980s, honing her skills as a singer and musician on the mandolin and banjo. As a teenager Marina toured the US with The Raheny Ceili Band. Since moving to New York City, Marina has been a regular presence leading Irish music sessions, and she enjoys performing Irish and American folk songs and her own originals. Her album Rosy Remedy is available on Spotify.
