Touring as a duo, these longtime collaborators of Rising Appalachia bring a soulful blend of traditional Appalachian ballads, banjo and fiddle tunes, original compositions, and crowd favorites from their global Rising Appalachia catalogue. Together, they create a dynamic, intimate performance rooted in folk tradition and improvisational spirit.
Born into a musical family from Georgia, Leah Song is a storyteller, song-catcher, musician, poet, and community builder known primarily for her role as front-woman of Rising Appalachia, alongside her sister Chloe. As a soloist she incorporates sultry vocals, storytelling, folklore, ballads and boleros into her laid back troubadour performances. Her music is based in the traditions of Southern soul, the diasporic music of the Celtic Isles and her deep studies of traditional folk music from across the Americas .
She has studied and worked alongside some of the greatest teachers and culture keepers of our time... including Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés, Bobby Mc Ferin, Martin Hayes, Martin Shaw, Joanna Macy, Winona LaDuke, Guadelupe Urbina, Sobunfu Some, and Rosemary Gladstar to name a few... Join her in gathering tools and teachings of resiliency, music, mythology, and celebration through sound.
Born on the East Coast, and home to the West, Blair Borax’s relationship with music began unexpectedly in 2016, when a friend gifted her a cheap guitar. Since then, Borax has become a prolific songwriter, recording artist, and performer, known for her distinctive voice, captivating melodies, and thoughtful songwriting that taps into the heart of being human. Since she quit her day job in 2022, she has released three full length albums and played over 350 shows across the country. Her third full length record, The Color Green (2025) is a collection of ten songs, searching for hope in dystopian times. Blending intimate storytelling, gorgeous melodies, and rich instrumentation, The Color Green wanders through growing up, falling in love, missing home, watching parents get old, thinking about life and death, and slowing down to savor all of it. Fans of Adrianne Lenker, Hannah Cohen, and Angie McMahon may find something to love in her music.

The Old Church Concert Hall is located in Portland’s Southwest Arts District, just one block north of Portland State University.
We’re an all-ages, ADA-friendly nonprofit arts and events venue with accessible seating, restrooms, and an ADA ramp entrance on the Clay Street side. Our bar offers local beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages, along with locally made treats like Missionary Chocolates, Farina cookies, and Smith Rock nuts—all of which you’re welcome to enjoy in our cozy Cheshire Cat Lounge or from your seat or during the show.
