This event is a part of the Rivanna Roots 2026 Concert Series, presented by The Front Porch and Rivanna River Company. Doors open at 5:30 pm and music runs from 6:30-9:30 pm. The Oversteppers
The Oversteppers, a reggae band from Central Virginia, bring together a dynamic mix of talented musicians from various bands and genres in the Charlottesville area. The group includes members from well-known acts like Guano Boys, Wild Common, The ‘77z, The Cows, Positive Collective, Sisters and Brothers, and the Ragged Mountain String Band. Renowned as one of the region’s premier reggae bands, The Oversteppers have headlined major venues, captivating audiences with their vibrant island and roots music.
The band’s lineup features Davina Jackson (lead vocals), Gabe Gavin (bass), Chris Leva (guitar, vocals), Stephen Barling (guitar) , Jim Gagnon (percussion, didgeridoo, flutes), Robinson Hubbard (drums, vocals), and Brandon Collins (keyboards). Together, they deliver an eclectic mix of reggae, ska, and world music.
Frontwoman Davina Jackson is a powerhouse vocalist whose style spans soul, New Appalachian, bluegrass, folk, and gospel. With her commanding voice, she has an impressive background, having sung backup for the legendary Wailers and toured with icons like Toots and the Maytals, Jimmy Cliff, and Burning Spear.
Driftwood Radio
Driftwood Radio is a virtuosic exploration of melodic and rhythmic themes, influenced by flamenco, blues, tango, and imaginary folk music traditions. The performance includes complex guitar compositions, existential lyrical impulses, and boomerang loop arrangements. Guitarist Miles Pearce has studied classical, jazz, folk and popular styles, Hindustani classical music, flamenco, Brazilian samba, Argentine tango, South Indian Karnatic vocal music, West African rhythms, composition, music theory, ethnomusicology, and experimental music. Featuring special guests David Jacobs on drums and Erik Knutson on keys.
