A Cappella Books and Georgia Center for the Book welcome Dr. Tom Frieden, former Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and current CEO of Resolve to Save Lives to Holy Trinity Parish Episcopal Church in honor of his new book, The Formula for Better Health: How to Save Millions of Lives—Including Your Own, which explains the formula to stop invisible killers—an approach that can protect your health and prevent the next pandemic—from one of the most influential public health leaders in the US. He will be in conversation with Katie Fullerton. This event, which will be at Holy Trinity Parish Episcopal Church, is free and open to the public. We do encourage registration. About the Moderator:

Katie Fullerton is an experienced public health professional with a career spanning hands-on outbreak investigations, national and international disease surveillance, and leadership in system and data modernization. She has 24 years (2001 to 2025) of professional experience and expertise in holding space for transformative public health work focused on translating complex outbreak and surveillance data into actionable solutions to prevent problems and strengthen responses across our public health ecosystem. She retired from the CDC in August 2025, after 21 years. Katie's time outside of work is spent open water swimming, hiking (multi-day trips preferred), kayaking, camping, learning more about my family ancestry, drawing, painting, or collaging, exploring the history of single subjects (like Salt, Coal, Paper, The Gulf, The Reef), and a spiritual practice based on meditation, somatic therapy, yoga, and community.
