Born on a laptop in 2008, Infinitefreefall is the experimental pop and electronic rock project from Charleston, SC. Formed and led by frontman/producer Maxton Stenstrom, this long-running outlet resists easy classification, fashioning a vast swath of influences into a kaleidoscopic wall of sound. Emerging as a mashup and remix project in the early 2010s, experiments in sound design and songwriting cast the die for a pivot to original material during the back half of the decade. Experiments in digitally synthesizing a full-band sound eventually necessitated the shift to a full-band setup during the early 2020s, as the project began hitting its stride with multiple full-length LPs, live albums, and compilations across several successive years. Currently a quintet featuring Maxton Stenstrom (guitar, vocals), Loren Jolley (synth, vocals), Bradley Simmons (bass), Shawn Krauss (drums), and Joshua Jay (guitar, synth), Infinitefreefall looks forward to releasing its fourth full-length original album Cursed Object in 2026.
Infinitefreefall’s fourth album Cursed Object is the sound of collective descent into hell. Mangling kaleidoscopic and experimental electronic textures with bracing rock instrumentation and pop-aware hooks, the sound contorts both into the past and future, in time outside of time. Genre stalwarts beware! It’s all on the menu here: psych-pop, space-rock, trip-hop, dance-punk, and much more lurking in the margins. Proudly self-produced, woven together with disarming songwriting, and capped by the monolithic, improvised quarter-hour title track, Infinitefreefall (the producer, and the group) continue to color outside the lines on their newest LP.
Birdleaf
Birdleaf is a Savannah, GA-based psychedelic rock band brought to life through the collaborative efforts of founding members Reid Gaboury and Finnegan Murphy. What began as a modest venture playing house shows quickly evolved into regular bookings at bars and clubs, establishing the band as a staple within Savannah’s emerging music scene. Birdleaf is most commonly associated with the contemporary psychedelic sound, drawing inspiration from acts like King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard as well as psychedelic pioneers such as the Grateful Dead and The Beatles, even prog acts like Yes and Rush. The band consists of Reid Gaboury (guitar, vocals), Finnegan Murphy (guitar, vocals), Tanner Sgambellone (keys, vocals), Jacob Talevski (drums), and Jacob Bailey (bass).
