The Claudettes:
Wielding a one-of-a-kind, piano-powered roots-pop sound, the Claudettes merge earthy blues and soul with pop hooks and punk spirit, writing an intriguing new chapter in American roots music. Pianist/songwriter Johnny Iguana joins seductive singer Berit Ulseth, bassist/vocalist Zach Verdoorn and drummer Michael Caskey. Johnny, who toured for years with his cult-favorite rock band Oh My God, has played on albums featuring Buddy Guy, Johnny Winter, Derek Trucks, Keb' Mo', Gary Clark Jr., Shemekia Copeland, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and more. He has toured/recorded with Junior Wells and Otis Rush, played on three Grammy-nominated albums and earned a prestigious 2021 Blues Music Award nomination for Piano Player of the Year as well as a 2022 Living Blues Award nomination for Outstanding Musician.
The Claudettes recorded their 2018 album "DANCE SCANDAL AT THE GYMNASIUM!" (Yellow Dog Records) with Grammy-winning producer Mark Neill (Black Keys). In 2020 the Claudettes released "High Times in the Dark" (Forty Below Records), helmed by Grammy-winning producer Ted Hutt (Violent Femmes, Old Crow Medicine Show). The Claudettes worked with Hutt and with Grammy winner Kevin Killen (David Bowie, U2, Elvis Costello) on a slew of new tracks that will arrive in 2022: a series of single releases from spring through summer and a full-length album on Forty Below Records in the fall.
Strange Heart:
"Here's the part I tell you I'm falling apart." - The Captain by Strange Heart
Joshua Clemens and Bryce Carrol-Coe returned home from the west coast only weeks apart, each facing their own crossroads. Bryce was returning home one year after receiving a heart transplant, looking for a place to sleep and someone to make music with. Josh arrived home to be near family, just before two of his sisters died tragically from cancer, mere days apart. He was inspired to write songs about the experience, and reflected further on his 7 years away from Detroit.
Together, they joined forces with Mike Schneider (bass), and Bobby Jankowski (drums) to form Strange Heart, and went to work on building the songs that would become their debut album.
Sinking Ships was released in late 2018, an album bursting of “pop-rock that always sounds like it’s in flight” (Jeff Milo, Deep Cutz), and Strange Heart is still not ready to come down. They’re back in 2022 with eight new songs that span across genres. From the indie-rock urgency of “Enemy”, to the Bill Withers groove of “24 Hours (Without Your Love)”, Strange Heart stretches out and continues to elevate.
Their sophomore album, Falling Back Again, will be released October 21, 2022.
Mike Leslie:
In late 2014, Mike was asked to be a permanent member of legendary Seattle grunge band, Candlebox. While touring sold out shows across North and South America, Leslie helped write and record Candlebox’s sixth LP “Disappearing in Airports” which peaked at #2 on the Billboard Rock Charts.
When not touring the world with Candlebox, you can find Mike playing solo acoustic shows and fronting the Detroit power trio Mike Leslie Band. Their unique sound combines the raw fury of fellow Detroit natives The Stooges and the MC5. The Heaviness of Nirvana and Led Zeppelin. The American roots of Chuck Berry and Robert Johnson. And the elegance of Elliott Smith and Nick Drake. With a brand new album coming in 2017, Mike Leslie continues to
surprise and amaze fans and critics.
