For the 10th season, IN A LANDSCAPE: Classical Music in the Wild tours the American West. Mountain tops, old-growth forests, and sunny meadows replace the traditional concert hall in the series featuring pianist Hunter Noack on a 9-foot Steinway concert grand piano. Listen through wireless headphones and wander afield with the music as a soundtrack to your experience in the wild.

The Sea Ranch community in Northern California was developed in the early 1960s by architect Al Boeke, inspired by nature and utopian ideals in American culture and architecture. Boeke aimed to create a sustainable community that preserved the area’s natural beauty. He brought together a talented team, including architects Joseph Esherick, Donlyn Lyndon, Charles Moore, and Richard Whitaker, landscape architect Lawrence Halprin, photographer Morley Baer, and graphic designer Barbara Stauffacher Solomon.

The concert takes place on the cliffs near the iconic Sea Ranch Lodge — recently revamped by Seattle-based architecture firm Mithun, interior design studio NicoleHollis, and landscape architects Terremoto.

Create a full experience by adding on a meal at the Lodge or, even better, spend a few restorative days in their guest accommodations or Sea Ranch Living, where you can reserve your stay in a private home.

Concert FAQs:

Seating 
Bring your own low back chairs or blankets.
No seating provided.

Accessibility
The walk to the concert site ranges from 200 to 1000 ft depending on parking. The path is a slightly downhill and covered in bark. Transportation for wheelchair users can be arranged by contacting the box office.  

Food & Beverages
Drinks and light snacks will be available for purchase at a bar near the concert site. Outside food and drink are not permitted. Food is also available at the Lodge cafe or by reservation in The Dining Room.

Dogs
Well-behaved dogs (max 6-foot leash) are allowed. Please bring and use waste bags to keep the site clean.

Smoking
Prohibited at all IN A LANDSCAPE concert sites.

Refunds & Cancellations
All ticket purchases are final. There are no refunds unless IN A LANDSCAPE cancels the performance. The show goes on regardless of weather.
