This event is part of "250 Years of Local Music: Exploring Musical Traditions of Charlottesville & Albemarle," a program series presented by the Albemarle Charlottesville Historical Society and The Front Porch.

Blues is the bedrock of modern American popular music, and the Piedmont blues is a distinct style of guitar rooted in the Piedmont plateau region. The Piedmont style is known for its eclectic influences and has close ties to regional fiddle traditions, old-time music, country, and ragtime. On November 14th, Jeffrey Scott, nephew of Piedmont blues legend John Jackson, will demonstrate multiple regional blues styles and dive deep into the history of the Piedmont blues. Author, historian, and musician, Gregg Kimball (Ph.D.) joins Scott in conversation to illuminate the eclectic roots of this unique style, its ties to other genres of American music, and its influence on the musical culture of Central Virginia.
