Influenced by many genres of music including jazz, fusion, pop, country and blues, The Feisty Birds at their core are a true rock band. Whether playing covers that bring back special memories or performing their original material, The Detroit-based Feisty Birds connect with their audience. Their collective music experience is extensive and to top it off, they are all really nice people!
Pictured from left to right, Steve Tarnowsky is one of the founding members and singer-songwriters of the Feistys. Steve entered the music scene in the early 80’s in Los Angeles, playing original pop-rock with Doppel Gang in Sunset Strip clubs like Madame Wong’s and Club Lingerie. Once settled in the Detroit area, Steve was the guitarist for hard-rock original band Daisy Chain, getting some airplay on WRIF. From there, Steve transitioned with some of the former Daisy Chain members into the flamenco-jazz band Domingo, before landing back into the rock and roll genre with The Feisty Birds in 2014. Steve is also a guitarist for the rock band Dr. Detroit.
Dr. Glen Gardner entered the Feisty Bird orbit jamming on his harmonica with the band for some songs at a live gig in Keego Harbor one night back in 2015. Glen became a full-fledged member of the band shortly after that as both its keyboard and harp player. Glen has played in a variety of bands of various genres since his days at Kalamazoo College starting with the Half-Baked String Band (bluegrass) and was a regular at the Soup Kitchen blues jam sessions when he was in medical school in the 1980s. Glen currently plays in several other local bands, including the rock bands Docter Detroit and The Cutthroats and the klezmer band Klezundheit. It was Glen’s connection to Dr. Detroit that brought both Steve and Bob into Dr. Detroit as well. His day job is laryngologist, taking care of singers as well as others with throat problems.
Alex Lleman, both the newest and youngest member of the Feisty Birds is making his Detroit music scene debut with The Feisty Birds. Alex is a talented singer-songwriter, already signed with Grammy award-winning producer Jimmy Greco’s Soul Azzure Media. See Alex’s artist profile at https://www.soulazulmedia.com/artists-profiles . We expect great things from Alex going forward and I’m sure our audiences will become believers as well once they hear him sing!
Scott Linzell, the bass player for The Feisty Birds is also one of the founding members and has been working in the Detroit music scene for over 50 years! In 1970 after graduating from high school, Scott started work in automotive manufacturing. To the great disappointment of his parents, Scott used his first paycheck to buy a new bass guitar and amp. That first Fender Precision bass guitar is still with him today.
Bob Yashinsky has been playing guitar and drums in the Detroit music scene for over 40 years in various bands including the Mist and is currently the drummer for The Analog Dogs. Believe it or not, Bob is also an accomplished keyboard player! Bob joined The Feisty Birds back in 2015 as a guitarist and songwriter. Bob actually played drums for the Birds over the past few years until our other recent acquisition, Dan. Bob has not looked back since! Like Steve, Bob is also a guitarist for Dr. Detroit.
Dan Bickmore recently joined the Birds as its new drummer. Dan has played in various bands in Oregon and Texas from the 70s to today, including Selection and White Collar Crime in Portland, Oregon to the Def Katz in Fort Worth, Texas. Rock, funk, country, Motown, light jazz – he loves and plays it all. Recently moved to Detroit and happy to be living and playing here with The Feisty Birds.
