Jay Ungar & Molly Mason Family Band

Troubadour Acoustic Concert Series presents Jay Ungar & Molly Mason Family Band

Since joining forces in the late 1970s, fiddler and mandolinist Jay Ungar and guitarist and bassist Molly Mason have become one of the most celebrated duos on the American acoustic music scene. They have won countless awards and provided music for movies and television, including Ken Burns’ classic Civil War PBS documentary. Their music runs the gamut from hard-driving Appalachian, Cajun and Celtic fiddle tunes, stirring Civil War classics, sassy songs from the golden age of swing and country, stunning waltzes, and deeply moving original compositions.

Late breaking bulletin:
As a special treat, Jay and Molly will be joined by their daughter Ruthy and Mike Merenda. You may know them from their groundbreaking singing and songwriting careers as Mike + Ruthy and as leaders of the Indie-Folk band The Mammals. Growing up in a musical family, Ruth cut her teeth on traditional music. Mike favored rock and ska before he found his way into acoustic music. They bring their impressive multi-instrumental skills and compelling vocal performances to the mix.
Double fiddles, sweet harmonies and rhythmic energy abound as two generations collaborate, entertaining you with music from the heart and soul of America.
