About the Event
This is an all-day painting class for adults taking place on Saturday, March 7 from 10 AM to 4 PM at the JAM Studio, upstairs in the Sisters Art Works building, 204 W. Adams Avenue. There is a chair lift to assist those who need it with getting to the second floor; the building is not equipped with an elevator.

Gouache is a traditional paint that is a favorite for illustrators as it allows for working in great detail. It is sometimes referred to as opaque watercolor as it can be used to create transparent effects as well as opaque details such as hair, woven fabric or stars in the night sky.

The one-day class will be an introduction to working in gouache using a simple assortment of 5 colors, watercolor paper, #6 brush and a plastic palette. To begin, students will be guided in some drawing and design ideas. Time will be mainly be given for students to explore these examples or their own personal images. All supplies will be provided.

Paul Alan Bennett has worked with gouache paint professionally for the past 40 years. His work has been seen in galleries, posters, prints, greeting cards and book covers. Pendleton Woolen Mills selected 16 of his paintings to be made into tapestries in 2005.

Recommended tuition is $150 and this class is being offered with Pay What You Can pricing to help eliminate financial barriers for participants. Pay what you can support is available through the SFF Presents scholarship fund. This fund enables Pay What You Can access to our programs for those in financial need (on an honor based system), and also provides college scholarships for graduating Sisters High School seniors.

Refunds will be offered only if class is cancelled by SFF Presents.
