Jazz N Soul Music presents A Soulful Serenade with Ruby and Friends, Saturday May 11th at 7:00pm & 9:15pm, at Rozzelles Ferry Landing!
Ruby Edwards is a Liberian-American singer and actress raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. She developed a love for singing in her formative years. She began singing in church at the age of five and developed a sound influenced by the musical artistry of Audra McDonald, Whitney Houston, Miriam Makeba, Sarah Vaughan, and Ella Fitzgerald. As a result of studying such dynamic artists, Ruby evolved into a multi-faceted singer with specialties in Jazz, R&B, Funk, and Soul. Her experience includes acting in various musicals such as Annie, Will Rogers Follies, Once On This Island, RENT, For the Love of Harlem, Eclipsed, and Be A Lion. Singing back-up for artists such as Eric Roberson and the Rocktopia Tour, and performing as the opening act for Jazz saxophonists Dee Lucus and Paula Atherton.
Currently, Ruby performs with a Luther Vandross cover band, and she is pursuing her education in Pre-Nursing at Winston-Salem State University. Ruby’s philosophy is that art and music heal the world, and she is passionate about using her voice to
entertain, collaborate, and inspire.
