The Front Porch presents singer-songwriters William Matheny of Morgantown, WV and Nelson County's own Kai Crowe-Getty.
Many artists find inspiration on the road, but few do so with the keen eye and narrative talents of William Matheny. The West Virginia-based singer-songwriter finds inspiration for his brand of Appalachian Americana at truck stops and hotel lobbies, filtering his experiences through a perspective that’s equal parts curious and compassionate. On That Grand, Old Feeling, Matheny shares that perspective across nine new tracks (Whizzbang Booking and Management).
Praise for William Matheny:
“Literary rock’n’roller William Matheny has a knack for spinning stories about roach-infested apartments and social anxiety into indie gold." — NPR’s Weekend Edition
“Cerebral alt. country from an unusually versatile singer.” — Rolling Stone
“William Matheny is quickly becoming one of independent country music’s most exciting emerging artists.” — American Songwriter
Based in Nelson County, Virginia, Kai Crowe-Getty is a seasoned songwriter who has moved from fronting the rock band Lord Nelson into a compelling solo career with his debut album The Wreckage. His new era of songwriting feels rooted in a modern troubadour tradition with equal parts lighthearted storytelling and quiet poignancy. An engaging and thoughtful performer, Kai has shared stages with BJ Barham (American Aquarium), Joe Pug, Erin Rea and Lilly Hiatt.
