About the Event

Dave Sherman moved from the Washington DC area to Staunton VA 4 years ago.  He immediately became involved in the rich music scene in the valley.  He was invited to join up with the Don’t Look Up Band, Mojo Parker, and Kurt Crandall and The True Story Band.  He recently started his own side project, Dave Sherman and the Shermanators, teaming up with Andy Burdetsky on bass and Gary Crockett on drums.  It started to take off filling venues every time they play.  So, he’s keeping it going, playing all styles of blues.

Dave has been playing the blues for 51 years. He learned his craft from the masters, backing up blues greats Earl King, Hubert Sumlin, Jimmy Rogers, Otis Rush, Nappy Brown, and James Cotton. This depth of experience gives Dave his sound, and prompted William Tripplett, of Washingtonian Magazine, to call him "a virtuoso of electric blues".

Andy Burdetsky has been playing bass for over 45 years.  Born and raised in the Washington DC area, he had many influences in his early years, including local bands such as The Nighthawks and Danny Gatton.  This is where he found his love for Rhythm and Blues.  Andy moved to central Virginia in 2004 and helped establish the Central Virginia Blues Society (CVBS).  He volunteered as President of the CVBS for almost 10 years, while also performing with Fatty Lumpkin & The Love Hogs.  In 2012 Andy helped form the Jon Spear Band, which released 4 albums and performed at many high-profile venues.

Gary Crockett, drums, also hales from the DC area and has been living in the valley for several years now.  Gary has played with some of the top DC bands such as Tommy Lepson and the Big Dawgs,  Lynwood Taylor, Catfish Hodge, Bobby Thomsan, Nighthawks, and Dave Chappel.  Gary is responsible for the Shermanotrs’ driving beat and danceable grooves.
