Most high school students never have received any instruction in how to write a personal essay. Yet at a time when getting admitted to their dream college is more competitive than ever, the admissions essay may turn out to be the single most important thing they will ever write. The stakes are high, and that's why we are excited to offer this workshop.
High school seniors will get specific feedback on their essay topic or essay draft in this workshop limited to 12 registered students. Bring your Common App personal statement, topic, or related writing, and leave with confidence about submitting an essay only you can write. Registration required. **We expect this workshop to fill up quickly. If you register and your plans change, please cancel your ticket or notify us at wrighta@dekalblibrary.org to allow the next person waiting to attend.
This event will take place in the Meeting Room of Decatur Library, on the Ground Floor (across from the Auditorium).
Parents, teachers, and students might also be interested in joining for an earlier session with Michelle, on September 11th, discussing how to use the book to coach yourself and/or others on improving their essay. Learn more about that event here.
