Both masters of their instruments, they play a mix of original tunes, classic bluegrass numbers, jazz favorites and covers anyone would recognize. With roots planted firmly in bluegrass, they stretch their sound in ways that all audiences will enjoy and leave the performance wanting more.
With his effortless vocals, distinctive songwriting, and instrumental prowess, Mike continues to capture audiences and carve out his own place in bluegrass.

Mike Mitchell is a singer/songwriter and fiddler in the contemporary bluegrass style. He is most influenced by 70’s J.D Crowe and The New South, Tony Rice, and Sam Bush. As a recording artist, Mike has released 3 bluegrass albums, the second of which, “Small Town” debuted on Billboard at # 2. His latest project, “Fathers & Sons” has enjoyed three #1 hit singles, with the album itself spending 13 months on the Bluegrass Unlimited Top 15 Albums chart. The new track, “Uncommon Man” is beginning its climb onto airplay charts this summer!

Mike says: “We bring a high energy show full of Chart-Topping bluegrass and fiddle tunes. Tim White, from the Song Of The Mountains television show calls us "Original Music with a Traditional Flavor"
“As a nationally recognized teacher of Bluegrass music, I enjoy leading workshops that leave everyone happy with their improved playing. I also head the IBMA Songwriters Mentorship Program and always enjoy making songwriting workshops fun and inspirational for folks.” “The band loves to jam and make friends, wherever we go!”

Mike has been a player all of his days, starting Suzuki violin lessons at the age of four. Through violin studies, a short stint in music school at Youngstown State, and playing in folk and rock bands through the ’90’s, Mike took a serious dive into bluegrass music around 2005 and has never looked back. He is fortunate to record and perform with some of the world’s finest and most accomplished musicians. Having cut records with the likes of Mark Schatz, Wyatt Rice, Sammy Shelor, Jarrod Walker and Jesse Brock, Mike knows how high the bar is set in top-level Bluegrass music, and strives to make it on every cut and at every show! Mike and his amazingly talented band are playing festivals and theaters in the U.S., Canada, Ireland and the U.K. this year to promote the Fathers & Sons album. When not on the road Mike can be found at home, in rural Floyd County, Virginia where he and his family run the Floyd Music School.
