About Strategic
Strategic is the stage name of Brandon Van Dalen. From Appleton, WI he has been writing, recording & performing as Strategic for about 16 years now. Strategic came about after his college band (Remembering Crimson) ended and he decided to continue making music as a solo artist. He’s always believed that Strategic is more than just a one man band, though. He wants it to be about more than himself and he wants others to be a part of it.
Strategic’s brand of pop, rock, folk and punk has recently started to incorporate elements of jazz, reggae, & blues. Most of the attention still focuses on acoustic guitar & the lyrics. His message aims to communicate that we are all here for a purpose and we should try to live in it. Brandon records full instrumentation on his albums and recreates his songs in upbeat live performances by doing "live looping", where he loops combinations of acoustic guitar, percussion and vocals.
He is not afraid to try new things and diversify his projects and audience. His latest endeavors include a Christmas album and a kid’s album! These have given him more creative liberties and each of them has stretched him in some way(s). This allowed him to further develop his sound. The next phase will expand things even more with focuses like collaboration, experimentation, multimedia and “experiences” being the keys…He wants to challenge what being an indie musician/ one man band means.
