Bluegrass Banjo Jam Survival Skills with Bill Evans

  • Doors: 10:30 am
  • Start Time: 11:00 am

About the Event

Calling all Banjo players: You're invited to join Banjoaficionado*  Bill Evans, for a Bluegrass Banjo workshop! This two-hour workshop will be a “hands-on and let’s play” kind of session with practical and easy-to-understand tips and skills that you can immediately use in your next jam session or band rehearsal to get a bonafide bluegrass banjo sound. Topics to be covered include the role of the banjo in a jam session and how to support different instruments and singers effectively with vamping, roll patterns, and up-the-neck techniques. You’ll also learn what kind of licks to use where, classic kick-offs and endings, navigate various keys using the capo, waltz time and fiddle tune backup, and much more. Bill’s group teaching method keeps everyone involved regardless of experience level. Tab samples will be provided but it is not necessary to read tabs to get a lot out of this workshop. Audio or video recording is encouraged. Bring your banjo and let’s pick!

Please note, this workshop is designed for advanced beginners-experienced players, but all are welcome to attend. You must bring your own Banjo.
