About the Event

The Go North Music Festival is a music festival held on beautiful St. Joseph Island. Go North is a family-friendly event, with free entry for kids 12 and under. We feature a variety of talented and critically acclaimed musical acts from across Canada.

*THURSDAY NIGHT* This year we’ve changed our festival weekend to line up with the Richards Landing Community Night weekend. Thursday night, kick things off with an intimate concert at the Old Town Hall in the heart of Richards Landing (Limited Seating).

*FRIDAY - THIS PART IS FREE, NO TICKET REQUIRED* Friday Night, the Richards Landing Community Night is held at the Centennial Grounds - Parade starts on HWY 548 at 7pm, followed by fresh baked pie, food vendors, kids games and games of chance - all in support of the Matthews Memorial Hospital NSHN Auxiliary to help provide equipment for the Hospital. After games end (8:30pm) the fun moves down to the waterfront Marina for the Boat Parade of Lights, FREE live concert by L!ME, and dancing in the streets!

*SATURDAY* Get your tickets here for SATURDAY, the Go North Music Festival gates open at 3:00pm with all your Go North favourites!

This year will feature an incredible group of Canadian talent led by this year's Saturday night headliners, six-time Juno Nominees and Canadian Favourites THE TREWS! Joining them on Saturday will be the high energy rock group BLEEKER, genre bending crowd pleasers Daniel Romano’s Outfit, blues powerhouse Terra Lightfoot, local favourites Handsome Sandwich and the Hollow Heads, with the party getting started with CASS FM.

The festival site features a lush green-space, nestled in the center of old growth maple trees. The Centennial grounds are built for large events, and offer wide open spaces and room to stretch out and make a zone for you and your crew.

We focus on featuring great food vendors. Saturday they will be serving up traditional favorites as well as gluten free and vegan options. Fresh wraps, fries and poutine, iced coffee, and all of your traditional BBQ favourites. Don't forget we offer ice cold locally-made and domestic beer and coolers. The Artisan Market showcases local artisans and producers selling hand made local goods. We have activities for kids and a kid’s stage with performances by the main stage acts. Kids 12 and under are FREE! The family zone has interactive displays from Science North, Parks Canada and games, crafts and a giant community mural project families can help with.

Plan your festival experience to include overnight camping. Available Friday and Saturday night. We will again feature our “Fireside Jam” after hours.

Camping tickets are available in the “Add-ons” section of the ticket link. Camp Friday and Saturday, or only Saturday if you wish. The campground is open all weekend for campground ticket holders. Family Zone, Marketplace and food vendors on Saturday only.

THURSDAY - David Francey Trio at the Old Town Hall

$35.00

Enjoy Juno Award Winning Singer Songwriter David Francey at the historic Old Town Hall, 1211 Richards Street, in the heart of Richards Landing.

David Francey is a Scottish-born Canadian carpenter-turned-songwriter, who has become known as “one of Canada’s most revered folk poets and singers” (Toronto Star). Born in Ayrshire, Scotland to parents who were factory workers, he moved to Canada when he was twelve. For decades, he worked across Canada in rail yards, construction sites, and in the Yukon bush, all the while writing poetry, setting it to melodies in his head and singing it to himself as he worked.

A truly authentic folk singer, Francey is a documentarian of the working person who never imagined earning a living from his music. But when he was in his 40s, his wife, artist Beth Girdler, encouraged him to share his songs and sing in public. The reaction was instant. His first album Torn Screen Door came out in 1999 and was a hit in Canada. Since then, he has released eleven albums, won three Juno Awards and has had his songs covered by such artists as The Del McCoury Band, The Rankin Family, James Keelaghan and Tracy Grammer.

This limited seating event kicks off a great weekend of fun and live music in Richards Landing.

Doors open at 7pm with music starting at 7:30pm. This is a rare opportunity to see David Francey in such an intimate venue. Not a bad seat in the house!

Seating is not assigned in this venue.
