Linda Striate has been intrigued by the energy in the entertainment world since birth. Her cornerstone in life is Charlotte, NC. The terrain of singing is no stranger to Linda. Subsequently, Linda’s greatest source of inspiration is from God. Mom, Dr Freeze (Elliot Straite) and other positive, motivating family members and friends, Naturally, with such powerful forces in her life, the influences on Linda’s singing style would be equally superior. Leading off that path for Ms. Straite is the Lady of Soul, Ms. Aretha Franklin, Kim Burrell which takes her to jazz/gospel roots along with Anita Baker and Ledisi which keeps her in touch with today’s jazz and R&B sound.
With such influential individuals guiding her spirit, Ms. Straite’s natural courses of life gave her the opportunity to receive advice from two of the Master of Music. Mr. Phillip Bailey of Earth Wind and Fire and today’s hottest saxophonist, Mike Phillips. Ms. Straite’s energetic nature convinced Eddie of the O’Jays to spotlight her God-given, by performing the song Baby Be mine at his concert. In addition, Linda shared the stage with such great as LeVert, Miki Howard, Gladys Knight, and Jennifer Holiday which Linda also had the pleasure of singing background for the Oakland Theater in Oakland CA.
Ms. Straite has performed in local nightclubs in the Charlotte area including the Big Chill, House of Jazz, Charlotte’s historical Excelsior, just to name a few. Including a leading role in the play, “Lord Can You Help My Child”, playing the character of Agnes. Opening Act for the Whispers at the Greensboro Coliseum. Performed background vocals for Vanessa Bell Armstrong at the Knight Theater. Performed the National Anthem for the Charlotte Nights as well as the CIAA basketball tournament. Also performed with Johnny Gill at the Bojangles Arena in Charlotte, NC. Studied operatic vocalizes under the late great Sammy Stenson. Ms. Straite received Lifetime Entertainment Award on behalf of Charlotte African American Festival. Also performed throughout the West Coast, Manhattan Club, Roland’s QT’s as well as numerous churches in California’s Bay area.
Ms. Straite’s music style has cultivated in the direction of a melodic taste of Jazz, R&B, Gospel, Country and a touch of down-home blues blended into one. However, each style takes an individual stand when her audience demands that type of attention. Linda has left audiences throughout the East and West Coast overwhelmed with charm and with a response. “MORE, MORE, MORE!!!”
