LAIMA FOUNDATION INC. is a diverse community of teachers, students and international music lovers working together to create positive change in Los Angeles and beyond. The LAIMA Foundation raises funds through concerts, membership, retreats and other forms of community engagement. 


This year LAIMA's students, faculty and guest artist members have joined together to create a virtual concert experience for you. Ticket proceeds will benefit Westside Food Bank, a Los Angeles organization offering food assistance to people in need.

Raashi Kulkarni: 

Raashi Kulkarni is a composer and pianist based in Los Angeles. She has established a distinct compositional voice that can be heard across a variety of genres including drama, comedy, adventure, animation, and action.She has been working with Emmy-nominated composer, Blake Neely, since 2017 and composes additional music on series such as The CW’s Supergirl, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, and The Flash. In 2019, she composed and orchestrated the music for the DC Universe’s first Bollywood-inspired musical, featured on DC's Legends of Tomorrow .She has performed as a featured pianist at the Shrine Auditorium, Kennedy Center, Smithsonian Museum, Patriot Center, Warner Theatre, Kodak Hall, and more.

Kamaljeet and Jas Ahluwalia

Kamaljeet Ahluwalia began her Santoor training at the age of 7 under Sitar Maestro Dharambir Singh (MBE). She continued her studies with Santoor Maestro Harjinderpal Singh and is currently under the tutelage of legendary Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma. 
Her husband, Jas Ahluwalia, studied the illustrious Tabla under the world renowned Ustad Tari Khan. 
As well as live performances, they regularly contribute to films, TV shows and commercials that include Disney Jr’s Mira: Royal Detective, Disney’s The Jungle Book: Alive with Magic, Apple TV’s series Home, and commercial work for Facebook and Instagram. These versatile musicians enthrall their audiences with their soulful touch and exciting spontaneity on stage.

Kandace Lindsey

Kandace Lindsey is a multi-lingual singer-songwriter, and recording artist that brings passionate and inspiring World Soul music to the globe singing in several languages such as Portuguese, English and Spanish. Kandace’s music is a cultural exchange of rhythms and music from all over the world. With very rich cultural influences of Brazilian music, Spanish, Indian, and of course Soul.Kandace has 4 CD’s and 5 singles released internationally to her credit, and has sung on many other CD’s in collaboration with other global artists. 
The mix of cultural rhythms and unique musical identity brought her up for a consideration for a Grammy nomination in 2011 from Recording Academy because of her fiery vocal technique and melodic songwriting abilities. Kandace has performed globally alongside International stars Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, as a background vocalist. She was asked to be a featured performer with Mr. Anthony in a duet in Spanish for the song ‘Ahora Quien’ on tour for several years having huge performances at Madison Square Garden, and soccer stadiums all over South America & Spain. These musical tours enriched her solo career and helped her find her one-of-a-kind voice conveying her diverse global musical experiences and travels to her fanbase across the globe.

Jie Ma

From classic Chinese music to modern and contemporary compositions, from acoustic settings to electronic expressions, Jie’s music reflects Chinese cultural heritage as well as multi-cultural influences. It celebrates the diversity and rich culture of the world and the human spirit we all share. Jie Ma has dedicated herself to inherit and promote the rich musical legacy of classical pipa and ruan performance. At the same time—as performer, composer, and producer—she has taken her music into entirely new directions. Her commitment to technical precision, her love of soulful and rich expression, her unique sound, her endless intellectual/musical curiosity, and her love of creativity have endeared her to diverse audiences around the world.

Jie has performed in China, Japan, England, and at a wide variety of venues throughout the United States (particularly in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York), as a soloist, in ensembles, and as a featured performer. In 2009, Jie was referred to in the U.K. newspaper, The Guardian as one of the "notable" pipa  players in the West.

Bageshree Vaze and Vineet Vyas

Bageshree Vaze is an Indo-Canadian dance artist and musician. Raised in St. John’s, NL, Bageshree initially trained in Bharatha Natyam, and studied vocal music with her father, Damodar Vaze. She later trained in Kathak dance with Jai Kishan Maharaj in New Delhi, and studied vocal music with the renowned Veena Sahasrabuddhe. Living in Toronto since 1996, Bageshree has three CDs to her credit, including Tarana, an album of music for Indian dance, which was released in India by Times Music under the name Khanak. Bageshree holds an M.A. in Dance from York University. In 2009 Bageshree was featured as a guest artist with the Niagara Symphony Orchestra, and in 2010, she was awarded the K.M. Hunter Award in Dance.

Vineet Vyas is one of Canada’s dynamic musical leading musicians. He is a disciple of the late legendary tabla maestro Pandit Kishan Maharaj. Vineet has performed across India, Europe and North America with some of India’s eminent classical artists such as Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Pandits Rajan and Sajan Mishra, Ustad Shahid Parvez, Rajib Karmakar and many others. He has numerous CDs to his credit such as ‘Taalworks’ which was released by Times Music India. His second Tabla solo CD, ’The

King of Dhamaar – a Tribute to Pt. Kishan Maharaj’ was nominated for Best World Music Recording by the East Coast Music Awards in 2011.
