Pitz Stop returns on Wednesday, May 6 for an unforgettable evening with Sam Schmidt, former IndyCar driver, championship team owner, and one of the most inspiring figures in motorsports. Doors open at 5:00pm, with a live Q&A from 6:30 to approximately 7:30pm.
One of the highlights of the evening centers on a custom Chevrolet Corvette SAM Car built specifically for Sam. This groundbreaking vehicle, designed to enable quadriplegic driving, is now headed to auction with Mecum Auctions. Sam will share the story behind the car, the technology that makes it possible, and what it represents for the future of mobility.
After a 2000 testing crash left him a quadriplegic, Sam refused to step away from racing. He went on to build one of the most successful teams in Indy Lights history and later an IndyCar team, while also becoming a leader in advancing mobility and spinal cord injury research. Throughout the evening, he will speak about perseverance, innovation, and the path that led him back behind the wheel.
Guests will also hear about his new book, No Finish Line: A Racer's Journey of Passion, Perseverance, and Purpose, releasing May 19.
Enjoy a festive Cinco de Mayo taco bar during the evening ($12 for members, $16 for non-members), or reserve a complimentary ticket if you prefer to attend the program only. Member-exclusive drink specials will be offered at $3 for Corona and Modelo and $8 for Simmons Margaritas. Whether you are a racing enthusiast or simply drawn to powerful, real-life stories, this is a Pitz Stop you will not want to miss.
