RICK LANDERS & HEARTLAND with LINDSEY HIRSHFELD!
Rick Landers & Heartland perform an eclectic style of Americana-Folk-Pop-Country originals written by Rick. Heartland features a mix of instrumentation that may include: percussion, bass, dobro, rhythm & lead guitar, violin, lead vocals by Landers. Rick is a published children's book author ("The Adventures of Digit & Tess") available on all major platforms, a co-writer of "Press Releases for Working Musicians," and a Songwriters of Washington (SAW) multi-award winning singer-songwriter, and the publisher and Editor of Guitar International magazine (2004 - 2024). Rick has interviewed such music giants as: Les Paul, Slash, Jimmy Webb, Buddy Guy, Judy Collins, Steve Earle, Jesse Colin Young, Paul Reed Smith, Joe LaMond (President, NAMM), and many more. He has performed solo as far away as Raton, New Mexico, and he and Heartland have played at The National Cherry Blossom Festival (2023 and twice in 2024), the Washington Folk Festival, the Herndon Festival, the W&OD Family Fun Festival, the Reston Town Center (6x), Reston's Founder's Day event, the Republic of South Africa embassy, Virginia's #2 ranked Reston-Lake Anne Farmers Market (10x), as well as gigs in DC, Maryland and Pennsylvania. Rick's original songs include: "Red," "Maria," "Appalachian Hollow," "Working Overtime," "Leviathan," and more popular songs he and his group perform. Rick also worked for Virgin Records in England and met with the legendary British folk singer, Roy Harper, at Abbey Road Studios - Studio 2, while Pink Floyd recorded in Studio 3, and was a D.C. busker when he first arrived in our area!
Lindsey Hirshfeld is a Virginia-based singer-songwriter who offers up an array of compelling Americana songs that are melodic, organic and captivating. In 2020, Lindsey won the Robert F. Kennedy Speak Up, Sing Out Music Contest in partnership with the GRAMMY Museum for her song A Dandelion Seed and in 2019 received an honorable mention in the contest for her song We Gather Dust. Also in 2020, she received the Young Artist Award from the Songwriters' Association of Washington (SAW) Mid-Atlantic Song Contest as her songs A Dandelion Seed and Evangeline Again won honors. She was also a finalist in the SAW Stream Catcher CoVideo contest for her song In the Last Hour. Lindsey was the 2019 Vienna Idol. Currently, Lindsey is studying Music Therapy at Belmont University in Nashville where she continues training in vocal performance, guitar and keyboard.
