About the Event
HAYLEY REARDON with KATE MILLS

HAYLEY REARDON
Hayley Reardon is a critically acclaimed folk pop artist and a storyteller in the truest sense of the word. Her songs serve as postcards from an artist brave enough to take the road less traveled. The songstress made the decision to begin living life boldly when she left Nashville to tour the world playing her music. In addition to having recently been based in Dachau, Germany for a six-month artist residency program awarded by the city, she has spent the past 5 years carrying her songs and guitar all over the globe -- gathering experiences, inspirations, and soulful connections along the way. The artist masterfully channels her colorful stories through music, capturing even the most subtle nuances of the human experience with a striking clarity.
Reardon recently made a splash with her single, “Losing From Within,” grabbing the attention of Spotify Editorial Playlists like Fresh Folk, Folk Pop, Morning Coffee, and Today’s Singer/Songwriters. Her latest EP, In The Good Light (June 2022), was recorded in Barcelona with Catalan collaborators Pau Figueres (one of Spain’s finest classical guitarists) and Aniol Bestit Collellmir (recording engineer) at The Sound of Wood Studio. The EP embodies Reardon’s essence with a kiss of Spanish flair on certain tracks. The artist discovered a new piece of home in Spain while recording the EP, “It was amazing to travel across the world and work with people who were essentially strangers from an entirely different culture,” she says, “and feel so deeply and effortlessly understood by them.” Her follow up EP entitled Changes is due for release in June of 2023.
Raised in Massachusetts, Reardon dove head first into music at the young age of 15. She has now been honing her craft for a full decade now, sharing the stage with acts like Lori McKenna, Rodney Crowell, and Anaïs Mitchell, among others. Her raw artistry boasts a lyrical and melodic weight far beyond her years, being described as “brilliantly moving folk/pop with a lyrical depth and soul” (Performer Magazine) and “a melancholy little masterpiece” (American Songwriter Magazine). No Depression writes “Reardon is truly a treasure.”

KATE MILLS
With a laid back, vintage Laurel Canyon musical vibe and disarmingly honest lyrics, singer/songwriter Kate Mills is putting her real-life story to song. “I used to be scared to say that music was what I was meant to do,” she confesses. The New York City-based artist spent years living in the shadows of her dreams, attending the prestigious University of Pennsylvania and working a safe job as a social worker, all the while writing songs. Today, Kate steps forward with assured artistry, releasing her debut full length album, “Each Bittersweet Drop”, which came out on March 6th, 2020.
Her storytelling lyrics and emotional perspective are uniquely informed by her time in the social work field. “Many of the things I loved about social work are also why I love music,” she says. “In both, it’s about creating a space where it's okay to feel whatever we're feeling; a space for us to acknowledge and embrace our whole selves, even the parts that are challenging. Both create connection. With music, I feel like I can contribute more genuinely to that conversation.”
The first single off the album, “Honest Mistakes” is masterfully penned. Intimate and personal during the storytelling verses and expressively layered during choruses, the song grapples with feelings of regret and the concept that even good people will sometimes make bad choices. The anthemic track “Outrun The Night” echoes this theme. American Songwriter described the song as “especially promising – it’s a foot-stomping southern-rock number that sees Mills building up the courage to face her personal demons.”
As a performing artist, Kate has gigged around the country at venerated venues, house concerts, colleges, and festivals. Select highlights include Hotel Cafe in LA, Cutting Room in NYC, Montauk Music Festival, ASCAP’s “I Create Music” EXPO, Ladybug Festival, NJ Folk Festival, Southeast Regional Folk Alliance, and Musikfest.
