GAAAYS IN SPAAACE is proud to continue with the return of our Virtual Celebrations with one of our best pals... STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE star JOHN BILLINGSLEY!!!
Join us on Sat. Aug. 17th at 8PM EDT for another unforgettable virtual gathering filled with all sorts of sci-fi fun!
We'll be reconnecting with friends, tackling some trivia, and of course chatting with the incomparable and always hilarious, John Billingsley!
Plus... the return of 'WHO SAID IT TRIVIA?' This time, however, we'll be quizzing our special guest with lines from his own series.
If you would like to participate by reading one of the lines, please email us at: info@gaaaysinspaaace.org
This is a PRIVATE Zoom event which will require a specific link and password to participate.
The suggested "pay what you can" donation for this event is $20. However, all that is required is a $1 minimum donation for authentication purposes.
After you have purchased your ticket, you will receive an initial confirmation email. You will also receive a second email in the late afternoon on Saturday, August 17 which will contain your specific link and password.

ZOOM DETAILS:
- If you do not already have a free Zoom account, you will be prompted to create one before joining the meeting.
- Prior to the official start of the event you will see a screen that says, "Please wait. The webinar will begin soon."
THERE ARE 2 WAYS FOR YOU TO PARTICIPATE:
FIRST:
- If you would like to ask a question during the meeting using your video and microphone, you will have the ability to “raise your hand” by clicking on the raise hand button in the Zoom controls. This will let us know that you would like to participate.
- “Raising your hand” will not guarantee that you’ll be able to ask your question, but we will do our best to get to as many of you as we possibly can in the time we have.
- With that in mind, please keep your questions brief and be mindful that there are many others who are also hoping to ask a question of their own.
- If you are selected to ask a question on video our moderator will introduce you by saying, “We have ‘Joe’ from ‘New York’ with a question.” At that point your Zoom will change, and you will be moved into the panelist area of the webinar, your video and mic will be enabled, and you will appear on the screen alongside our guests and hosts. At that point, please turn on your video and mic.
SECOND:
- You will also have the option of typing a question into the Q&A box located in your Zoom controls.
- These questions will be read by one of our moderators. Again, we will do our best to get to as many of these as we possibly can.
CODE OF CONDUCT:
Please be mindful of our code of conduct for the event.

GENESIS of GAAAYS IN SPAAACE:
“To Fix the Problems of Today… We MUST Have HOPE for Tomorrow.” – DAN DEEVY, Founder
GAAAYS IN SPAAACE (GIS) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the importance of LGBTQIA+ inclusion in both science fiction storytelling and the actual space industry.
We strive to relieve ignorance, promote a better understanding of LGBTQIA+ individuals and empower LGBTQIA+ youth by exposing them to visions of the future like those found in television shows like STAR TREK, THE ORVILLE & THE EXPANSE, where universal equality has FINALLY become a reality; and most importantly, where they can see themselves reflected in the characters.
Since our founding in 2016, we've hosted 200+ events which have spanned a dozen major US cities, featured more than 60 celebrity guests, and have been attended by well over 20K fans.
Countless members of our community now feel less disconnected and alone in the particularly challenging and isolating times we find ourselves in thanks to the safe space that our events create.
Everyone who has attended our events have left with a renewed sense of optimism for the future as well as a reinvigorated sense of purpose in continuing the ongoing struggle against bigotry, intolerance and hatred that remains all too present throughout the world.
GIS has been endorsed and supported by THE ORVILLE’s SETH MACFARLANE & STAR TREK creator GENE RODDENBERRY’s son, ROD RODDENBERRY, who told GIS Founder DAN DEEVY that GIS is exactly the kind of organization that his father would have supported and that he’d be proud of the impact that it’s having.
We’ve also been incredibly fortunate to have received the most genuine, heartfelt support from so many members of the STAR TREK family & THE ORVILLE cast; for which we could not be more grateful.
Many have donated their time and talent by appearing at our events, others have helped to spread the word via their personal social media accounts, and all have autographed GIS items to be used as prizes and giveaways for our attendees to raise money for our organization.
It is important to note that attendance at our events is not limited to fellow members of the LGBTQIA+ community. People of every background come together in the spirit of creating the inclusive future we all yearn for.
All our events are dedicated to celebrating the inclusive Utopian future that both GENE RODDENBERRY & SETH MACFARLANE have created for ALL mankind and our crowds always reflect that.
Without fail, each event has been a truly unforgettable gathering of fans and celebrities alike all of whom mix and mingle as they celebrate the Roddenberry Philosophy of IDIC… ‘Infinite Diversity In Infinite Combinations.’
We’re proud to say that GAAAYS IN SPAAACE events continue to be celebrations of historic importance for LGBTQIA+ Sci-Fi & Science fans as well as our straight allies who have stood with us in our struggle to move humanity to a future that goes beyond equality!
