RUDE TO YOUR MOTHER
Ska/Reggae Band, originally started by Simon and Aman in December 2021, RTYM has filled out to 6 members with a variety of influences, talents and backgrounds.
Aman Habte
Aman fronts the group on both guitar and vocal, as well as writing several of the band's original tracks. His musical influences include The Wailers, Delroy Wilson, The Melodians, Buzzcocks, The Bee Gees and Abba. He also plays with local punk band Java Sparrow.
Denny D'Alelio
Multi-instrumentalist Denny d'Alelio has been a professional conductor, arranger, composer, bassoonist, and music educator for over 25 years. He graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Chapaign where he studied Music Education while perusing his bachelor and masters degrees. As a composer, Denny has been writing and arranging music throughout his career. His music has been included in the Independent Filmmakers Project music library. His composition Stargazer was the winner of the 2018 Hollywood Dreams Film Festival category for best original music. His most recent commission DC Express, was commissioned by the Washington Performing Arts Society for the Washington D.C Public Schools Honor Ensemble.
Josh Cergas
As a trained classical guitarist, Josh made the switch to bass in 2015 and currently plays a 6 string. Josh also plays with local band. Josh began studying piano at five years old. By ten years old he was taking guitar lessons. At fourteen he began studying composition and by sixteen he was preparing to commence an undergraduate degree in music.
Scott Garrison
Scott gave us his 8-6 day job last year to become an unemployed musician. So far, no regrets. Scott has wide-ranging tastes, but for the metaphoric desert island, he'd choose Blue Note jazz from the late 1940's to early 1960's and Stax soul from the early 1960's to early 1970's. But he likes playing any music that makes people get up and dance.
Simon Rowe
Band leader Simon is the band’s British import, keeping down the steady Ska beat and adding an occasional blazing solo. Simon has been playing for 5+ years and is otherwise involved in the D.C. ska scene when not playing with the band.
Joe Lavicka
Joe began playing the drums at twelve years old. Since that time he has studied under the drummers Larry Levine, Tom Hipskind, Joe Barna, and Dan Pugach. In addition to ska, Joe enjoys playing jazz/hard bop, indie rock, classic rock, and funk.
