AUTOMATIC WITH OPENER NAPSTAMIND
Automatic has been playing stellar rock and roll cover music around the DC region for the last 26 years, presenting a dynamic and well-respected classic rock sound amidst their talented, top notch style. The members of the band are seasoned and well-known around the DMV -- guitarist Craig Spilsbury, one of the area’s most talented guitar players, is also in longtime band The Young Relics along with bassist/vocalist Rick Taylor, who also plays in the band Homer’s Donut. Lead singer Steve Houk has sung for 18 years in local cover band Second Wind, in Bandhouse Gig tribute bands, and now also sings for The Rainmakers as well two acoustic duos. Drummer Ken Nottingham is currently also in Collective Delusion, the Quadrapheniacs and Wildflower Dreams, and talented multi-instrumentalist and record collector Bruce Zimmer is on keyboards and guitar and also vocals and harmonica.
The Napstamind are a trio from Rome that merges the psychedelic vibes of the 1970s with a modern rock attitude. The band communicates its perspective on the human experience through the voices of all its members, who alternate during their performances. Musically, the band delivers a show characterized by a continuous fluctuation of intensity and emotions, transitioning from introspective and spatial moments to achieving fuzzy/hi-gain sounds and lively rhythms.
The band debuted with their self-titled EP in 2024. Currently, Napstamind is heavily involved in the venues of the Roman music scene and is dedicating themselves to producing their debut album. This album, titled Nel Giardino A Vapore, will be preceded by three singles released over the three months before its official release on October 7th, during a release party at the Jammin 2024 festival in Rome. Afterward, the band will fly to the United States for a 10-date tour in November.
